June 29, 2016

Statement

The Honourable Michael Coteau
Minister of Children and Youth Services

On Tuesday, June 28th, I announced a historic investment in autism services in Ontario, which will significantly transform the system, reduce wait times and ensure that all children and youth with autism receive the services that they need.

Since that announcement, I have received a few questions on what families with children who are currently in IBI will experience. I want to clarify that:

Decisions about the rate of reduction of service intensity will be determined based on clinical considerations according to the child’s needs. The guidelines for transitioning children from IBI are being revised and will be posted online within one week of the June 28th announcement.

As mentioned yesterday, children will receive the services they need.

The Honourable Michael Coteau
Minister of Children and Youth Services
