Ontario is expanding its ABA-based services and supports in communities across the province. ABA is an approach that helps kids with autism build the skills they need to learn, manage transitions and become more independent. More
Since March 2010, all publicly funded school boards have had teams available to help children with autism move from Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) to school. The teams, made up of parents, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) consultants, teachers, and principals, are established approximately six months before a child starts school. They continue to support the child in school for at least six months. More
March Break and summer camps give kids with autism the chance to learn new skills and participate in fun activities outside of school, such as bowling, swimming, skating, music, arts and crafts. More
Autism is a complicated and relatively new disorder. Researchers around the world and here in Ontario are working hard to find more answers to its cause and treatment.
As part of its plan to help more kids with ASD, Ontario is investing in leading-edge autism research. This will help to improve early detection and diagnosis of ASD and to better understand linkages with other related conditions. More
