The Ministry of Children and Youth Services is committed to helping to support children and youth with autism and funds services for families through nine regional service providers located across the province.

To work hands-on with children with autism and their families, you need a community college diploma or university degree in a related field including sociology, psychology, early childhood education, child and youth work, or behaviour science technology. The Ministry of Children and Youth Services may be able to partially reimburse your tuition expenses through its Grant Assistance Program. Before you begin to work with children with autism, IBI agencies offer a two-week training course. There's also a criminal reference check required. Salary ranges vary depending on education and experience.
