Thistletown Regional Centre is a directly operated children’s mental health centre which offers specialized services and community supports to those children, youth and families with complex mental health, behavioural, or developmental challenges or who have experienced sexual abuse.
Service Area
Thistletown provides direct service mainly in the Regions of Toronto, Peel and York; with consultation services beyond those regions.
Services and Clinical Activities
A wide range of services which include:
Specialized assessments.
Treatment services such as:
- school-based day treatment
- intensive community and in-home family services
- residential care
Other services and activities such as:
- respite care
- outreach
- consultation and training
- research and evaluation
- internships and student practicums
Clients
Our clients include children and youth who:
- require intensive intervention in order to overcome significant chronic challenges
- are experiencing developmental, emotional, behavioural, psychiatric, social and/or psychological difficulties which have resulted in lengthy service histories
- who have been sexually abused within their families, children with sexual behaviour problems and adolescents who have committed sexual offences
- have extreme forms of autism and pervasive developmental disorders
